The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Polk County office is celebrating 100 years of extension services with a block party on Saturday, Sept. 27.

The Block Party, which will be held at the UF/IFAS Polk County Extension office in Bartow from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., will feature educational sessions on the unique aspects of Polk county as well as the extension programs that provide support to local communities.

Sessions focus on topics such as healthy cooking, Florida-friendly landscaping, plant potting and a history of Polk County ranching.

The first 50 attendees will receive a gift. Snacks and refreshments will be served. This is a free, family-friendly event with no registration required. To learn more, go to http://polk.ifas.ufl.edu/.
